Scholarships

ALCA has two scholarship programs and a memorial fund.  An application must be completed and submitted to the ALCA office by July 31st for the subsequent academic year.

GREEN INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP FUND - In memory of sky blu underwood

This scholarship is available to qualified individuals who are serious about furthering their formal education in the Green Industry.

Each year, ALCA organizes a golf tourney honoring Sky Blu Underwood in which the proceeds go to the Green Industry Scholarship Fund.  Sky Blu Underwood was born in Phoenix in 1974 and was raised around the landscape industry. He often worked for his father during the summers at AAA Landscape. His roots are deeply entwined with the agricultural industry. Unfortunately, Sky did not live long enough to fulfill his dreams. This endowment has been established to help other young people build theirs. Perhaps applicants can use their education to beautify the world with trees, flowers, and other green things...and carry on one of Sky's dreams.

ALCA GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The General ALCA Scholarship Fund is open to all ALCA members and their immediate families, regardless of their choice of academic field.  The scholarship funds are available for those qualified individuals who wish to further their post high school education.

Jim Trog Water Management MEMORIAL FUND

This memorial fund is endowed in memory of Jim Trog, a former ALCA Board member, who focused on water management as the water conservation manager with Four Peaks Landscape Management.  He was certified through the Irrigation Association as an Irrigation Contractor, a Landscape Irrigation Auditor, and an EPA WaterSense Partner.

These funds will be used to subsidize irrigation and water management workshops to keep the fees low for all students.
