Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements for:
ACLP - ARIZONA Certified Landscape Professional
SLM - Sustainable Landscape Management
CEU Application for Training
CEU Post Approval Instruction Sheet
CEU Attendance Form
What are the CEU requirements for SLM and ACLP?
In order to maintain your certification, you must recertify every two (2) years by obtaining eight (8) Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) and pay a $50 recertification fee.
Why are CEUs required?
The strength of the SLM and ACLP Programs is in the continuing education component. As with any type of professional certification, there must be a way to measure continued competence. It is also a way to track changes in employment that will be posted on the ALCA website so that current and prospective clients may confirm your qualifications.
How do I obtain CEUs?
You may earn CEUs several ways: attending conferences / seminars / workshops held by ALCA or an Affiliate Organization. These include but are not limited to OPM, ISA, IA, SLM, and ACLP workshops. You are not required to take any exams.
After I get all my required CEUs, am I then recertified for the next two (2) year period?
No, in order to complete the recertification process you must pay a $50 recertification fee.
I just sent in my CEUs. Can you tell me how long it takes to process them?
Once received in the ALCA office, CEU processing takes 2-4 weeks to verify and post to your account. Once a total of eight (8) CEUs are processed and you have paid the $50 recertification fee, you will receive a new certificate and wallet card with the new expiration date in the mail.
How can I keep track of my CEU totals?
You will be able to view your CEU report from your member login section of this website. You must keep track of your deadline. You have worked hard to earn your credential and it is your responsibility to maintain it.
How do I get a seminar pre-approved for SLM and ACLP CEUs?
If you or your company is hosting training that you would like to get SLM or ACLP CEUs pre-approved, please contact the ALCA office or download an application. You will be required to provide an outline and agenda for the meeting.
How do I get CEUs for an event that was not pre-approved?
To receive credit for an event that was not pre-approved for SLM or ACLP CEUs, you must fill out the appropriate Post-Approval Form and follow the instructions in the form.
My SLM / ACLP certification has expired. What can I do now?
If a certified member cannot meet a reporting deadline, an extension of the CEU due date may be requested in writing. Approval of an extension will move the due date sixty (60) days and will not affect subsequent due dates. A $50 administrative fee will be accessed for filing an extension. If you cannot meet your CEU requirement within the sixty (60) day extension deadline either because you don’t have enough CEUs posted to your account or your recertification payment has not been received, you will need to retake the appropriate exam(s). Until you have successfully passed the exam(s), you should refrain from advertising yourself as ACLP and/or SLM Certified as to not mislead the public and violate federal trademark law.
Do any additional CEUs I earn over the required amount roll-over to my next certification period?
No, you must earn your CEUs in a specific two (2) year timeframe. Once you have recertified and paid your $50 recertification fee, your CEU total will drop back to zero (0) and you will need to start accumulating the required CEUs in this new two (2) year timeframe.
