ARIZONA CERTIFIED LANDSCAPE PROFESSIONAL – the members of this committee comes from Landscaping companies, nursery industry, educational institutions and the county extension offices. They meet monthly to determine curriculum to be taught, review materials to be used and other business as needed. They will also certify the results of two examinations held during the year. Successfully passing all parts of the examinations results in the designation of Certified Landscape Professional.
AWARDS – a program where Landscape Contractors, Architects and Designers can enter projects for recognition. This committee meets several times between December and July to prepare for the Annual Awards Banquet. There are a number of subcommittees involved in judging, Program design and production, site location and arranging for sponsorships.
EDUCATION – this committee usually meets two or three times a year to determine the educational programs to be presented. The topics are chosen to enhance business management and practices of ALCA members.
GOLF – this committee meets as needed to develop a golf tournament. One tournament is normally held in conjunction with the Awards Banquet. The committee determines the golf course to use, awards to be given, and solicits the necessary sponsorships.
MEMBERSHIP – There are two Membership Committees – one for Phoenix and one for Tucson. The committee usually meets two or three times a year to determine the dates and purpose of member meetings. A balance between social and educational events for the meetings allows members to become acquainted with each other and receive new information for running their business.
GOVERNMENT RELATIONS – this committee meets as needed to maintain liaison between ALCA and various government organizations. They are instrumental in obtaining information about legislation that could affect ALCA members and distributing the information through broadcast faxes. The committee will also liaison with other Associations in lobbying efforts.
SCHOLARSHIP – this committee usually meets twice a year to determine who should receive educational scholarships from ALCA. The focus is on providing scholarships to those individuals who express an interest in working in the green industry and/or are family members of ALCA members and their employees.
FIELD DAY – this committee will meet every other year to determine dates, location, food and the variety of events that will be of interest to members and their families. A time to bring the families of the green industry together to take a break from the everyday work grind and enjoy an action packed, fun filled day.
